The Druie Cafe

Fantastic coffee, delicious cakes and hearty bites, The Druie Cafe is the ideal pit stop after exploring Rothiemurchus. Just like the rest of Rothiemurchus, it’s the people that make it so special.  Situated in Rothiemurchus Centre, we are just 5 minutes from Aviemore.

Queen of Scones

Scones are a huge part of The Druie and a huge part of our scone baker Ali’s life. She made her first scone when she was just 2 years old! Taught by her mum Ali insists practice makes perfect and her scones have even been recommended for infamous Sunday Post’s ‘Scone Spy’. Insisting that the secret ingredient is love, she believes that ‘if you put love in, you get love out’. We can’t disagree with that!

Home-baking hero

As well as scones there is also a huge selection of cakes, biscuits and other naughty treats that are baked in house by Lee-Anne, our Druie baker. Always pushing new recipes and developing our expanding free from range, she is on the front line of cakes! Thought her brownie used to be good? Have you tried her gluten free brownie? Its amazing!

‘Tis the season…

Brilliant baristas

Not only do we think we have the best roasted coffee beans in Scotland, our baristas are also trained by the fantastic Lorna at the Bean Shop, Perth, enabling them to get the best taste out of the beans. Oaty, soy, extra hot or extra shot, Moira, Eilish and Eilidh are always on hand to prepare that perfect coffee.

Fabulous food

It’s not all about cakes and coffees! Soups, sandwiches and specials are all made with fresh, local ingredients and only ever use Rothiemurchus meat. Reared on the estate, Brian our master butcher then prepares it all on site, so the venison has no food miles at all! Venison and beef are regulars on the menu, with bacon and black pudding being favourites on the new breakfast menu.

Local artwork

The Druie’s back wall is always filled with local artists unique work. With a new artist every month, Rebecca loves sourcing new and exciting artists, whilst keeping local favourites. Our December spotlight is Ann Vastano with her colourful designs of the local area, they make a great gift or addition to the home. The Lairig Ghru is a popular favourite, almost selling out in the first week!

Festive fever

With the days getting shorter and weather getting crisper, it must mean that Christmas is on it’s way! One of our favourite times of year at the Druie, mulled wine, roasted chestnuts and mince pies are of course a must, along with a range of delicious daily specials including smoked salmon scrambled eggs for breakfast, a hot Rothiemurchus beef sandwich or a chocolate orange scone as a festive treat!
