We were humbled when our first guest wrote “Thank you so much for this amazing place. I had the best time of my life.”
This delightful large cottage – parts of which are very old, has been thoughtfully transformed by international designer Fanny Ward to provide you with the utmost comfort throughout your stay. Her attention to every detail is simply amazing. Gorgeous, inspirational, spacious but super-insulated, cosy, and designed to relax and spoil. The Boat House is nestled into a delightful sheltered corner in its own spacious, private, woodland grounds with the River Spey and the Milton Burn flowing close by and views over trees and fields to the surrounding Cairngorms and Monadhliath mountains. You’ll feel completely secluded, yet it’s easily reached with the main A9 road and popular Highland hub of Aviemore and Rothiemurchus Centre just a few minutes’ drive or short walk away. This old Grant family home is perfectly placed for enjoying the wildlife of Rothiemurchus – Red Squirrels scurry around the trees, Buzzards call overhead with wonderful walks and stunning Loch an Eilein is just up the road. From the parking area, there is a side door directly into the light spacious, open plan living space with a well-equipped kitchen, adjoining dining room and cosy Snug to relax in. The window seat, woodburning stove, large squishy sofa, huge armchair with shelves overflowing with books and games and Sonos play make this large perfect for being together. A door from the dining area opens directly onto a generous fenced part of the garden suitable for dogs or small children with trestle table, benches and Indian fire pit burner on paving. The living area and bedrooms all have radios and Sonos players and The Chill Out sitting room with 75” TV and Sonos sound provides a cinema experience ideal for movie nights, cosy gatherings or after-dinner dozing on the huge L shaped sofa. We want the unspoilt beauty and wild experience of Rothiemurchus to be enjoyed and cherished by everyone so the ground floor has been modified as best we reasonably can to cater for the less mobile including guests in wheelchairs. The ground floor bedroom with a has an adjoining specially designed wet room. The super comfortable, super-kingsized beds in the Boat House are handmade by Crocketts and made up with the softest pillows, duvets and luxury Egyptian cotton bed linen. Anti-allergy alternatives are available. Upstairs there are two luxurious bedrooms each with ensuites with freestanding baths and stunning views. The Boat House is perfect for couples, a group of friends or an extended family to relax and enjoy being together in this charming, stylish, dog-friendly getaway.
