An experience not to be missed, this fully guided inspirational trek follows a network of tracks and off-road trails through the magnificent Caledonian pine woodland and across heather moorland taking in spectacular views of the surrounding mountain landscape. The treks are led by experienced and fully trained professional guides who are happy to stop at particularly impressive view points and indicate areas of special interest. Hire a bike
Save yourself the hassle of bringing your bike with you and hire one instead. We have a fleet of mountain bikes in a range of sizes as well as trailers and tag-a-longs for those not big enough to pedal yet! Rothiemurchus offers world class family biking – ask us about our three hand-picked circular routes which are suitable for the whole family. So grab some freshly made sandwiches and picnic supplies from our farm shop, head off on your bikes and enjoy the beautiful surroundings at your own pace.
River Tubing
Choose from two options – River Tubing or White Water Tubing. River Tubing offers the same excitement as our White Water Tubing but is suitable for families with younger children or those with a gentler experience in mind. Both River Tubing and White Water Tubing use the same sections of river but the River Tubing takes things a little slower and takes in the easier sections of the river. For the more adventurous White Water Tubing is a bit more action packed with natural water slides, fast white water gorges and jumping into deep and safe plunge pools.
River Tubing – ages 8+
White Water Tubing – ages 12+
Segway Adventures
Start off on a nice flat open field so you can get used to controlling the Segway before heading out onto the Rothiemurchus heather moorland and finally learning ascent and descent techniques on a tricky wee hill. More than a trek, this is a real off-road Segway experience! Segways produce zero emissions, virtually no noise and it is impossible to describe the rush of riding one, come and try it for yourself! There’s no minimum age for Segways (or maximum for that matter!) but you do need to be a minimum of 7 stone/45kgs.
Feed the Deer
A chance to get up close to photograph and hand feed our magnificent Red Deer hinds. Join one of our friendly and knowledgeable Rangers on one of our most popular tours, suitable for all ages. After meeting the at the Rothiemurchus Centre, you’ll follow the Ranger in your own car to the deer farm, from there it is a 15-20 minute walk to the main deer herd, who will be keen to see you (especially as you will be helping to give them food!) An experience you will be talking about for years to come!
Whatever your family decide to do these October holidays we hope you have a great time!
