Based on the famous book ‘Memoirs of a Highland Lady’ by Elizabeth Grant dating back to the early 1800’s, this tour includes a visit to the Grant family home The Doune of Rothiemurchus.
The family home of the Grants of Rothiemurchus since 1560 was nearly lost as a ruin and has been under an ambitious repair programme since 1975. Guided by a Ranger, you will visit some of the locations mentioned in ‘Memoirs of a Highland Lady’, finishing at The Doune to view ongoing restoration work and visit some of the restored rooms in the ‘old’ Doune.
