Welcome to The Barn Café

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BARN CAFE WILL BE CLOSED FROM MONDAY 12TH JANUARY AND WILL REOPEN ON THURSDAY 29TH JANUARY.

The Barn Café at Rothiemurchus is just a short distance from Aviemore, conveniently located across from The Farm Shop. Open 7 days from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., it’s a welcoming spot for breakfast, lunch, or a coffee break. Enjoy a cosy atmosphere with a woodburning stove and a menu that features hearty stews, soups, sandwiches, daily specials, and tempting cakes. The café is dog-friendly, with a designated area for dogs – just ask a member of staff to point you in the right direction. We also have a private room, Abhainn Druie, to the rear of The Barn that is available for private hire (more info below). For your convenience, there are bike racks to secure bikes, as well as parking available next to The Barn, opposite the building, and in the woodland car park as you approach from Aviemore.

Our Menu

The Barn Café is all about hearty, satisfying food in a relaxed setting. Kick off your morning with a breakfast roll – from bacon or sausage to tasty vegetarian options – or treat yourself to a warm pastry with freshly brewed coffee from the Perth Bean Shop. For lunch, there’s always our soup of the day or a comforting bowl of Cullen skink, served with a homemade cheese scone, alongside daily specials like warming one-pot dishes, with vegetarian options always available.

Our freshly baked scones and traybakes are ready, and we’re proud to serve some of the finest coffee around. You’ll also find a range of cold drinks, including kombucha and alcohol-free beers.

Room Hire - Abhainn Druie

Looking for a great spot to get together with a group, colleagues, friends or family? Our private room at the back of The Barn, the Abhainn Druie, is just the place. With views over the River Druie, a cosy wood-burning stove, and space for up to around 50 people (depending on how you’d like it set up), it’s ideal for everything from meetings and family celebrations to group lunches or BBQs. Rothiemurchus Farm Shop is conveniently located opposite The Barn Cafe. We are passionate about good food, sustainability, home-grown produce, ethical farming and low food miles. We work with a range of artisan producers to ensure that both our online shop and our Farm Shop at Rothiemurchus showcases only the very best!

You can also visit our online Farm Shop which is expanding all the time and offers a click and collect service.

How to get here

Rothiemurchus is situated about 2 miles from the main A9 road from Perth to Inverness and 5 mins by car from Aviemore.

There are stands to secure bikes outside The Barn Café and if you are driving there is free parking next to The Barn, opposite The Barn and also in the Woodland Carpark as you approach The Barn.
