Get to know Janet our Farm Shop Manager

Janet Williams, Rothiemurchus Farm Shop Manager

Janet moved here 15 years ago, when her husband became Gamekeeper at nearby Ralia estate. In 2016 she was interviewed for an office role at Rothiemurchus, “but somehow walked out as the new Farm Shop Manager!”. A keen cook and butcher’s daughter, Janet seemed destined for the role and has certainly made it her own –  but she says she simply couldn’t do it without herwonderful team: “The best part of my job!”.

Rothiemurchus Farm Shop Team

Janet with some of her wonderful team

Janet is a keen runner and over the past few years has also learnt Thai boxing, which she enjoys both for fitness as well as the self-discipline aspect. Discipline which no doubt comes in handy given the many food and drink samples that the team have to taste, week in, week out! “Definitely a bonus!”. Other highlights include the annual food and gifts trade shows at Olympia, SECC and others – a chance to meet suppliers, see new products and trends. Janet has clearly developed an expert eye for what works well in the Farm Shop – now open 7 days and “always busy”. She’s particularly delighted to see that it’s now more popular than ever with local shoppers.

She also loves being outdoors with her three beautiful gundogs, including newest arrival 5 month old Doris. Over the winter you’ll find Janet, her dogs and her family out in the fresh air, beating and picking up at shoots. As a dog lover, it was only natural that Rothiemurchus Farm Shop has become fully dog-friendly under Janet’s management. In fact the dog treats that she added to the product range have become one of the shop’s all-time best-sellers – and a firm favourite with many of our regular four-pawed visitors!
